Chapter Seven

It was impossible to say no to this man. As soon as she laid eyes on him across the busy restaurant, Cassandra’s frantic worries took a sharp left, landing her squarely in carnal territory. She tried to quell the rush of need flooding her body, but it was already a lost cause. Everything faded to the background when their gazes clashed. Including her common sense.

He was more handsome than she remembered. His dark, brown hair and green eyes ensnared her. His attentiveness was unnerving as much as it was refreshing. And like the other night, every word out of his mouth teased her like soft, lingering touches. He spoke and all she heard were the whispered promises of what was to come later. Rumpled sheets and earth-shattering orgasms. Cassandra considered running in the other direction but stopped herself every time.

“Are you up for more?” he’d asked after settling their bill. The part of her heart and mind battling over what to do finally chose a victor, and all she could do was answer yes. Now, as they entered a club downtown, the swarm of butterflies in her belly made their presence known again.

Since it was just past nine, the club appeared relatively empty this early. They found a high table near the bar and several feet away from the dance floor with no problem. A DJ spun old school records as small pockets of people milled around the large space.

The steady pulse of music blasting her ears added to the rising anticipation surging through her veins. The air vibrated with energy and possibilities. It was impossible to ignore.

The night’s just getting started.

Cassandra hadn’t gone out dancing in ages. The last time was more than a year ago when she and Starr attended the bachelorette party of a college friend. That night, they’d ended up at a club like this one. Unfortunately, she didn’t have as good a time as she probably should have, still wallowing in her own misery after her breakup. She hadn’t been the best company back then even though she tried pasting on a smile for everyone’s benefit.

Shaking herself out of the dismal thoughts, Cassandra looked around the nightclub. Then, she set her sights on Wick. They hadn’t been more than a foot apart from each other the past couple hours, so she took the opportunity to check him out while he was otherwise engaged. He’s even got a nice ass. She traced the sharp lines of his tall frame, and he was completely unaware of her blatant and hungry perusal.

The man drew attention from all sides which didn’t surprise her in the slightest. She couldn’t help but notice several pairs of eyes following his every move in the restaurant and now at the club. Wick exuded a calm strength, easily attracting her and others into his orbit. She wasn’t even sure if the man realized his own appeal. But how could he not?

She forced her gaze away from his scrumptious backside. Firm butt cheeks she recalled grabbing during their session last week.
